WeTransfer is a service for sending large files, with a “size” of less than 2 GB in its free version, and 20 GB in its paid version (WeTransfer +).

WeTransfer is used via a web interface, where you can select a file from your computer, it and then select the appropriate sending method. For example, by email (this option is by default), where you will have to enter the recipient’s address as well as the sender’s, or by link. By creating a link, an url available for a few hours can be accessible by several people at once.

The sharing speed depends on several factors: WeTransfer uses the connection speed of the computer to receive and distribute files. The availability of shared files, which can be grouped into folders, depends on the queue of transfers in progress. This limit disappears with the paid option.

WeTransfer is also a desire to share urban or photographic culture, with wallpapers that present an artist or an exhibition, via the WePresent initiative.

Considered the leading large file transfer service, WeTransfer is available from an online interface, but also on a Mac or mobile application. The functionalities remain the same, but without the famous wallpapers that brighten up the process of sending files.

No file format is prohibited: image, video, text document, pdf… Everything is allowed and of course the transactions are secure. This is not an incentive to share compromising material, hacked files or any other illegal activity, but a reminder that even if connections make it easier to share data, individuals and professionals sometimes need a service such as this one.
