MeshLab q3u19

Developed by ISTI and CNR, MeshLab is an Open Source software for processing 3D meshes. Its main objective is to provide a complete tool for the manipulation and editing of harmonious 3D models. To do this, it offers different options for cleaning the mesh (removing duplicates, eliminating isolated components, consistent unification, automatic filling of holes, etc.), mounting, smoothing, re-griding (simplification, subdivision, surface reconstruction, etc.), noise suppression and conversion into different formats. Indeed, MeshLab s the following import and export formats: PLY, STL, OFF, OBJ, 3DS, COLLADA, U3D, GTS, X3D, VRML, DXF and IDFT. The’printing’ function is done in high quality since the rendering can be up to 16k x 16k.

In addition, MeshLab has other tools such as the measurement tool which allows to measure linearly the distance between the points of a mesh or the cutting tool which allows to export flat sections of a mesh in SVG format. Finally, the software is equipped with the algorithm “Poisson Surface Reconstruction” which allows to merge several meshes.
