Amnesia: The Dark Descent is an adventure game that takes you through the different rooms of a castle in search of a certain Alexander Von Brennenburg whom you must kill. You play Daniel, who wakes up in the same castle with no other memories than his first name. He discovers a letter written by himself or he asks himself to kill Alexander to accomplish his mission.

Your character will have no weapons, i.e. he will be totally vulnerable to all the monsters he encounters. Your only solution will be to run away and try to avoid encounters as much as possible. Speaking of meetings, these will always be unexpected. Indeed, the background sound is often filled with noises of all kinds, with the crackling of the floor that precedes the appearance of monsters. Be careful because your character has a mental health bar that empties when he or she is under too much stress. To restore it, all you have to do is put yourself in a light source to calm your character down.

With an extremely well executed atmosphere, Amnesia: The Dark Descent will seduce people who like to be afraid with video games. The light strings are very realistic and you will very often be the victim of jolts as you progress.
